You’ve carried enough. Let’s make room for something lighter.
Therapy for those living with trauma and chronic illness in Boulder, CO.
In person and virtual therapy available in Colorado.
You’ve been praised for being strong, but no one sees how much it costs you.
You may be used to “getting through” things. You push past what hurts, mask on the outside, and carry more than others realize. But underneath, you might feel overwhelmed, on edge, disconnected, or deeply exhausted in a way that rest doesn’t quite fix. You’re not new to hardship, you’re just tired of holding it alone and ready for support that truly understands the complexity of your experience.
I work with people whose bodies and minds have learned survival through trauma, illness, or long-term stress. Therapy with me is not about pushing through or bypassing your reality. It’s about creating safety, choice, and compassion in a body that’s been through a lot.
You may benefit from therapy for trauma or chronic illness support in Boulder, CO if…
You’ve spent a long time pushing past physical and emotional pain, and it’s starting to catch up with you
You notice yourself constantly scanning for what could go wrong, even when things are “fine”
You’re constantly balancing what you should do with what your body and mind can actually handle
You’ve learned to minimize your pain so others don’t feel uncomfortable
Trust feels complicated, whether it’s trusting yourself, other people, or your body
You feel grief for a life you thought you would have
You feel anger with the circumstances or that your day to day looks different than how it used to
You’re tired of having to explain or justify your experience to others
What therapy for trauma and chronic illness support in Boulder, CO looks like with me:
A space where we don’t shy away from dark, painful, or complicated parts of your experience
Someone who will hold hope for you when it feels hard to hold onto yourself
Compassionate honesty and new perspectives when you feel stuck in the same patterns or loops
Space for dark humor and laughing through the madness because humor can be part of healing, too
A place where your thoughts, emotions, and reactions are met with curiosity instead of judgement
The freedom to say the thing that you’re afraid is “too much”, irrational, or “wrong”
A therapist who genuinely cares deeply about the people she works with
Real conversations, real connection, and occasionally some swearing :)
Meet Anna Constancia, LPC
Trauma and chronic illness support therapist in Boulder, CO
I work with adults and adolescents who’ve spent a long time adapting to environments, relationships, or circumstances that required survival. Many of the people I work with are survivors of violence, crime, abusive upbringings, and chronic illness who are navigating the lasting effects of these experiences.
I chose this work because I know how deeply our experiences shape the way we interact with the world. Both professionally and personally, I’ve seen how easy it is for people to feel unseen, misunderstood, or told what they’re experiencing doesn’t quite fit into the neat box someone else expects. These moments have highlighted the importance of trusting your own experience, reconnecting with your intuition, and creating space to be yourself openly.
Therapy with me is compassionately honest and grounded in the belief that healing happens through a strong therapeutic relationship. Client’s often describe me as warm, genuine, funny, hopeful, and real. I’ll sit with you in the hard moments, celebrate the wins that others may overlook, gently challenge patterns that are keeping you stuck, and help you make sense of experiences that have robbed you of your presence.

If I am not credentialed with your insurance plan, please see the section on private pay.
If you have Medicaid, Colorado state law (C.R.S. § 25.5-4-301(1)) prohibits therapists from charging or accepting private out-of-pocket cash payments from individuals enrolled in Health First Colorado (Medicaid) for covered mental health services. This rule applies even if you choose to waive your Medicaid benefits or prefer to pay out-of-pocket. If you are currently enrolled in Health First Colorado, I cannot legally treat you under a private pay agreement and am happy to help provide referrals to qualified Medicaid-enrolled providers.
-
My private pay rate is $175 per 60 minute session. Intake sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes and are $200.
If I am not credentialed with your insurance plan, I am happy to provide you a superbill each month to give to your insurance. Please check with your insurance about your out of network mental health benefits. Many of my clients are able to get reimbursement from their insurance.

In our first session, we will review intake paperwork together. I will also gather a comprehensive biopsychosocial history of your experiences. Then, we will spend time identifying what you hope to gain from therapy and create goals specific to your needs.
-
As sessions begin, I will check in with what’s showing up emotionally or physically. This check in is important in helping us safely prioritize a focus for the session. Some days you may feel ready for deeper trauma work. Other days might be more about understanding your emotions, gaining education on symptoms, identifying triggers, grounding your body, or simply having someone sit with you in the hard moments.
There’s no pressure to have the perfect words or a plan. Your only job is to show up as you are, and I’ll help guide the rest.
How do I get started?
Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you've spent a long time holding things on your own. My goal is to make the process feel as comfortable and straightforward as possible. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out, you just have to be willing to take the first step.
Schedule a free consult
We'll start with a free 15 minute phone consultation to get to know each other. This is your opportunity to ask questions, share what brings you to therapy, and get a feel for whether we'd be a good fit.
Finding the right therapist matters, and I want you to feel confident in your choice. If we are not the right fit, I am happy to assist you in finding an appropriate fit for your needs.
Schedule an intake session
If we decide to move forward together, we'll schedule your first session. During our intake, we'll explore your story, what you've been experiencing in your day to day, what's bringing you to therapy now, and what you hope will feel different.
There's no expectation to tell me everything at once. We'll go at a pace that feels right for you.
Create goals together
Your treatment is something we build together.
We'll identify what's most important to you and create goals that feel meaningful, realistic, and flexible. As you grow, your goals may evolve too, and we'll adjust along the way.
Connect with me
Healing doesn’t have to happen alone.
Whatever the obstacles you face, let’s face them together.
